Arrive at Amman airport, where a Highlands Travel representative meets you and assists with arrival formalities. Transfer to your hotel in Amman for dinner and overnight.

Visit Jerash, ancient Gerasa, with Hadrian’s Arch, the Oval Plaza, the colonnaded street and the Temple of Artemis. Continue to Anjara and the Church of Our Lady of the Mountain, built at a cave where tradition says Jesus, his disciples and the Virgin Mary rested on their journeys; it is one of Jordan’s official Christian pilgrimage sites. Continue to Umm Qais, ancient Gadara, a city of the Decapolis linked to the Gospel account of the healing of the demoniacs, with views over the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights. Dinner and overnight in Amman.

Visit the Baptism Site, Bethany Beyond the Jordan, where John the Baptist lived and baptised Jesus (John 1:28). The site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important Christian pilgrimage places in Jordan. Nearby, visit the Hill of Elijah (Tell Mar Elias), traditionally linked to the prophet Elijah’s ascent to heaven. Continue to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth at more than 400 metres below sea level, where the salty water lets you float with ease and the mineral-rich mud is famous for its benefits. Return to Amman for dinner and overnight.

Visit Madaba, the “City of Mosaics”, and its 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land in the Church of St. George, then Mount Nebo, where Moses viewed the Promised Land, with views over the Jordan Valley towards Jericho and Jerusalem. Continue south to Petra for dinner and overnight.

A full day in Petra, the rose-red city of the Nabataeans and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Ride a short way on horseback, then walk through the Siq to the Treasury and continue past the Street of Facades, the Theatre and the Royal Tombs. The light is at its best in the early morning and late afternoon. Return to Amman for dinner and overnight.

Tour Amman: the old part of the city, the Roman Theatre and the Citadel, with free time to walk through downtown and its old markets. Visit Mukawir, the hilltop fortress of Machaerus, where Herod Antipas imprisoned John the Baptist (Matthew 14:3–11), with views across the Dead Sea. Continue to Umm ar-Rasas, ancient Kastron Mefa’a, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for the mosaic floor of the Church of St. Stephen. Dinner and overnight in Amman.

Breakfast at the hotel, then transfer to Amman airport, where our representative assists you with departure formalities.
